Speaker of Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury has called on Chinese President Xi Jinping, who is now on a two-day state visit to Bangladesh.
Speaker of the Parliament met the Chinese Premier in the Rangamati Room at the Le Meridian hotel on Friday afternoon.
During the meeting, they discussed various issues of mutual cooperation with special focus on further strengthening parliamentary democracy through exchange of views of lawmakers of the two countries.
“We have discussed the issue how we can make parliament more effective through exchange of views among the lawmakers of the two countries,” the Speaker told reporters after the meeting.
Later, BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia met Chinese President Xi Jinping at his hotel.
During the meeting, Begum Zia urged the Chinese president to continue their support for Bangladesh’s development endeavors, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said.
