Screening of ‘Kelor Kirti’ cleared

The screening of Indian Bangla film ‘Kelor Kirti’, directed by Raja Chanda, got the permission in the cinema halls in Bangladesh, reports the UNB.

The Appellate Division cleared the way for screening the Indian movie in the country staying the High Court Division order that halted it on July 19.

A four-member SC bench headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order on Sunday.

Earlier, a High Court bench stayed for six months the screening of the Tollywood movie responding to a petition filed by a film producer, Sharif Hossain.

On July 18, the producer filed the written petition challenging the legality of importing the film without following film importing and exporting rule.

Meanwhile, a number of Dallywood artistes, directors, and producers formed a human chain in front of Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) on July 20 protesting the move to allow the screening of Indian films in local movie houses.
