SC upholds Rizvi’s bail order

Rbd Desk :

The High Court order that granted bail to BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi was upheld by the Supreme Court on Sunday.

Rizvi’s lawyer Sagir Hossain Leon said now there is no legal bar to his client’s release from jail following the SC order.

Chamber judge of the Appellate Division justice Syed Mahmud Hossain passed ‘no order’ on a government petition seeking stay on the HC order that granted bail to Rizvi.

On October 13, following a bail petition filed by Rizvi, the HC granted him bail in the police killing case.

The government recently filed a petition with the SC seeking stay on the HC’s October 13 order of bail.

Police filed the case with Ramna Police Station on January 18 last year on charge of killing a policeman during the anti-government movement of the BNP-led alliance.

Rizvi surrendered to a Dhaka court on August 18 this year in connection with all the cases filed against him.

The lawyer court on the same day sent him to jail in connection with the case.

Rizvi got bail in all the cases.
