Nur Chowdhury’s deportation news not true


Law Minister Anisul Huq said reports saying the time limit of Bangabandhu’s killer Nur Chowdhury’s stay in Canada was not extended and he was being deported from Canada were not true.

The law minister said, “The foreign minister called me when he saw news regarding these issues published in Bangladeshi media. After a discussion we contacted Bangladesh High Commission in Canada to check the veracity of the news.”“The Canadian high commissioner informed us that the news completely false. He confirmed that there is no base of the news,” said Anisul.

The law minister also said Nur Chowdhury’s lawyer and Bangladesh desk at Canada’s Foreign Ministry were also contacted. Both of them confirmed that the news were false.

Earlier without mentioning any source Indian newspaper Anandabazar published a report about Nur Chowdhury’s deportation from Canada.

Nur Chowdhury, who was condemned in Bangabandhu murder case, is currently staying in Toronto, Canada.
