Two days after his arrest on charge of running an illegal casino inside a club in the capital, Jubo League on Friday expelled its Dhaka south city unit organising secretary Khalid Mahmud Bhuiyan from the organisation.
Jubo League general secretary Harun-ur-Rashid said the action was taken against Khalid for violating the organisational discipline.
He said an emergency meeting of Jubo League central committee took the decision to expel Khalid as various allegations were brought against him.
On Wednesday, members of Rab arrested Khalid, also president of Fakirerpool Youngmen’s Club, from Gulshan area for running an illegal casino in the club.
Separate courts on Thursday placed Khalid, organising secretary of Dhaka South city unit of Jubo League, on a seven-day remand in two cases filed against him.
RAB personnel carried out simultaneous raids on his home and Young Men’s Club. The law enforcers seized three firearms from his residence and detained 142 people, including two women, from the club along with huge alcohol, gambling equipment and Tk 24 lakh.
