Minister discusses aircraft crash with Caan officials in Kathmandu

Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister AKM Shajahan Kamal held a meeting with the senior officials of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (Caan) in Kathmandu on Tuesday and discussed the crash of the US-Bangla Airlines aircraft.

At the meeting held at Tribhuvan International Airport in the capital of Himalayan country Nepal, he discussed the bringing of the bodies of Bangladeshi nationals who were killed in the plane crash home as early as possible and the condition of the injured.

Bangladesh Ambassador to Nepal Mashfee Binte Shams and officials of Civil Aviation Authority, Bangladesh were present.

Later, the minister, who flew to Kathmandu in the morning, went to visit Eakub Ali, one of the survivors in the crash, at Norvic International Hospital.

At least 49 people, including 26 Bangladeshis, died as the US-Bangla Airlines aircraft from Dhaka to Kathmandu crashed at Tribhuvan International Airport on Monday.

There were 36 Bangladeshi nationals, including the pilot, co-pilot and two crewmembers, 33 Nepalese citizens and one Maldivian and Chinese national each in the flight.
