The Jahangirnagar University unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on Thursday recommended suspension of its 10 leaders and activists over a clash between two dormitory units that left 30 people injured.
The recommendation was made in a letter sent to the BCL central committee, according to a press release signed by JU BCL President Jewel Rana and General Secretary SM Sufian Chanchal.
Show-cause notices were also served to the accused BCL men and they were asked to refrain from all activities of the organisation for one month, the release added.
Earlier on Tuesday night, BCL groups of Mir Mosharraf Hossain and Al-Beruni halls locked into a clash over establishing supremacy on the campus, injuring at least 30 of them.
Meanwhile, the JU authorities have postponed the suspension order of four BCL activists over beating a student.

The university authorities suspended the four – Shuvashish Ghosh of Bangla department, and Ya Rafiu Shikder, Mustafizur Rahman and Sohel Rana of Public Administration department — over beating of a student of the university on the campus.
JU Registrar Rahima Kaniz said, “On Tuesday, the vice-chancellor suspended the BCL men exercising her executive power. Now, she has withdrawn it. It’s her personal matter. We don’t know about it’”.
Earlier, Mahmudul Haque Shohag, a master’s student of Journalism and Media Studies department and campus correspondent of an online news portal, was beaten up on September 24 allegedly by some BCL activists in the Swimming Pool area on the campus.
