BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Thursday pleaded not guilty as she delivered self-defense in Zia Charitable Trust corruption case.
Khaleda asked for justice and made the appeal after Judge Md Akhteruzzaman of the Special Judge Court-5 of Dhaka read out charges in front of her.
Replying to the question, the BNP chairperson told the court that she will submit her self-defense statement in a written format.
The court then fixed November 30 as the date of next hearing.
In 2008, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed a case against six people, including Khaleda Zia and her eldest son Tarique Rahman, for allegedly misusing Tk2.1 crore from the funds of the Zia Orphanage Trust.
In 2011, the ACC accused the BNP chief and three others of misappropriating Tk3.15 crore from the Zia Charitable Trust fund.
