Hosts Bangladesh beat Sri Lanka by 78-53 points in a South Asian Qualifying round match of the FIBA U-18 Asian Basketball Championship at the Dhanmondi wooden floor gymnasium here on Wednesday.
Bangladesh led the first half by 42-23 points.
In the day’s other matches, India outplayed the Maldives by 115-60 points while Sri Lanka beat Nepal by 86-77 points at the same venue.
On the last day (Thursday), Nepal will play the Maldives at 9 am while Bangladesh will play Nepal in the last match at 4:30 pm.
State Minister Health and Family Welfare Dr Zahid Malik will be the chief guest at the closing ceremony and will distribute the prizes. Director of the meet’s sponsor Dhaka Bank Limited and former chairman of the Bank Altaf Hossain Sarker will be the special guest on the occasion.unb
