Dhaka-Beijing call for quick implementation of signed deals

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and visiting Chinese Vice Minister of International Department of CPC Central Committee Zheng Xiaosong on Friday have laid emphasis on implementation of the agreements signed between Dhaka and Beijing during the Chinese President XI Jinping’s maiden Dhaka visit recently.

The two parties reached the consensus when Zheng Xiaosong, a Special Envoy of the Chinese President, along with his delegation met the Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her office in Ganabhaban.

PM’s Press secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed reporters after the meeting.

The Chinese team is currently in Dhaka to attend the two-day 20th National Council of the ruling Awami League beginning on Saturday.

Emphasising party-to-party relations, Vice Minister Xiaosong referred to the recent visit of the Chinese President to Bangladesh and said XI Jinping is overwhelmed as the relations between the two countries have reached a new era of strategic partnership.

Referring to the agreements signed during the visit of XI Jinping, he said now the implementation of those is very important.

Xiaosong highly praised the dynamic and visionary leadership of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina saying Bangladesh is now witnessing massive socio-economic development and is moving in a faster pace towards progress.

He mentioned that over 7 percent GDP which Bangladesh achieved in the last fiscal saying it is just remarkable.

The delegation leader hoped that the relation between Bangladesh and China would get stronger in the coming days under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s leadership.

At the meeting, Xiaosong handed over a letter of the Chinese President to Awami League President Sheikh Hasina as well as invited her ICT affairs Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy to visit China.

The Prime Minister said the Chinese President’s recent visit to Bangladesh opened up a new door of cooperation and the relation is now going further ahead.

About the recently signed agreements, she said her government wants to implement these in a faster pace.

Putting emphasis on maintaining party-to-party relation, PM Sheikha Hasina hoped that more high level visits would take place in the days to come.
