Complying with a court order, the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission on Sunday decided to restore the spectrum allocation for Citycell, the country’s first mobile phone operator.
BTRC chairman Shahjahan Mahmood confirmed this to Prothom Alo on Sunday.
A decision has been taken to reinstate Citycell’s spectrum allocation and the telephone operator can carry on its services starting this afternoon, he said.
The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) on Sunday asked the BTRC why it had not yet restored the spectrum of Citycell.
A four-member HC bench, led by chief justice SK Sinha, passed the verbal order in the morning.
