BNP senior leader Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain on Thursday claimed that a chaotic situation prevails in the country for lack of an ‘elected’ government.
“Two students were killed as a bus ploughed through them beside a road. An anarchic situation is everywhere as no one abides by any rule. It’s happening as there’s no legal and elected pro-people government here,” he said.
Speaking at a discussion, he also alleged that the government which is in power by ‘force’ is providing the bus and truck drivers with licences illegally. “Why won’t the drivers be unruly when the government is desperate?”
Arpan Bangladesh, a pro-BNP platform, arranged the programme at the Jatiya Press Club to give financial assistance to the family members of some BNP leaders who were affected by the government’s ‘repressive’ acts.
He came down hard on Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan for what he said smirking after hearing the news of the killing of the two students of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin School and College in the road accident. “His smirk manifests how much cruel they are.”
Mosharraf, a BNP standing committee member, said the government is least bothered about the students’ demand for resignation of the Shipping Minister as it is an ‘autocratic’ one. “Now time has come to demand the resignation of the government.”
He also called upon people of all walks of life to get united to unseat the government through a strong movement.unb
