The Cabinet Committee on Public Purchase on Wednesday approved seven procurement proposals, including one for supplying medicines to community clinics across the country.
State-owned Essential Drugs Company Limited (EDCL) won the contract under direct procurement method (DPM) to supply some 27 items of medicines at a cost of Tk 119.91 crore to country’s 13,500 community clinics.
The government will procure the medicines under its Community-Based Healthcare (CBHC) operational plan 2017-18.
The Cabinet committee approved a proposal of the Power Division to award contract for rehabilitation works of the Unit-1 and Unit-2 of Karnaphuli Hydro Power Plant at a cost of Tk 397.46 crore.
Five more proposals received the nod of the committee to award contract for procurement of goods and services for different projects on gas exploration and pipeline construction in the energy sector under Speedy Enhancement of Power and Energy Supply (Special) Act.
Earlier, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs gave “in principle” approval to a proposal to directly procure security equipment and systems, including frequency jammer, drone shields, and motor vehicles, for Special Security Force.
The committee also “in principle” approved a proposal to change the procurement method of the government’s ‘Establishing Digital Connectivity (EDC)’ project.
Under the EDC project, the ICT Division will procure goods and services worth $1 billion (equivalent to Tk 8,000 crore) through Limited Tendering Method (LTM) instead of earlier approved Direct Procurement Method (DPM).unb
