A 10-member BNP delegation, including its secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, will meet their chairperson Khaleda Zia in jail here on Wednesday.
They will go to the old central jail at Nazimuddin Road at 3pm to meet Khaleda, BNP chairperson’s media wing member Shamsuddin Didar told UNB on Tuesday night.
He said the authorities concerned have given permission to nine party standing committee members and BNP chief’s special assistant ABM Abdus Sattar to meet Khaleda in jail.
The nine standing committee members are Mirza Fakhrul, Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Moudud Ahmed, Jamiruddin Sircar, Mahbubur Rahman, Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, Mirza Abbas, Nazrul Islam Khan and Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury.
On February 8 last, a special court here sentenced Khaleda to five years’ rigorous imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
Khaleda, a 73-year-old a former prime minister, was taken to the old central jail minutes after the delivered the verdict.unb
