Staff Reporter:Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka Harsh Vardhan Shringla on Sunday said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was one of the most influential and courageous leaders of the twentieth century.
He said Bangabandhu was a great friend of India and was committed to strengthening the relations between the two countries.
“His sacrifice for Bangladesh continues to be a source of inspiration for millions of people all over the world,” Shringla said while addressing a function at Tungipara of the district.
The High Commissioner paid homage to Bangabandhu during his first visit to the district. “He championed the cause of democracy, secularism and social justice throughout his life.”
Shringla said, “He’s revered as much by the people of India as he is by the people of Bangladesh. It’s a great privilege to have the opportunity to pay homage to the architect of Bangladesh.”
In Tungipara, India has implemented an energy efficiency project by the Energy Efficiency Services Limited of India.
The High Commissioner said as the Bangladesh’s economy is growing, there is an increased demand of electricity. “We need to save electricity by using modern technology.”
He said, “In Tungipara, you can see it is already being done by using LED bulbs by the municipal corporation. The project has already been completed.”unb
