Ambulance kills four at DMCH

An ambulance killed four people, including a mother and her son while a six-month pregnant woman lost her child.

Among the deceased, three have been identified as Goleynur Begum, 25, her 7-year-old son ‘Sakib’ and six-month pregnant Amena Begum, 28.

The fourth victim, a beggar who is estimated to be around 60 years old, is yet to be identified.

The accident took place when the ambulance was speeding through the emergency gate around 9:15 am, Bachchu Mia, sub-inspector of DMCH police outpost said.

He said the speeding ambulance lost control near the entrance hit a rickshaw and several other pedestrians.

Five others, who were injured in the accident, have been admitted to the DMCH.

The ambulance was owned by one Nasir Mistri, but he was not in the vehicle when the incident occurred.

The driver’s assistant Sohel was behind the wheels and has been arrested.
